What is a Single Torsion Spring /Single Coil Torsion Spring / Single Direction Torsion Spring

A single torsion spring, also known as a single-coil torsion spring, is a type of helical spring that produces a counteracting torque when both ends are twisted. Once the external force is removed, the spring returns to its original shape. It is one of the most basic forms of torsion springs.

A single torsion spring stores mechanical energy through torsional deformation, typically formed in a helical shape with two extended legs (also called spring arms). When these arms are rotated or twisted, the spring stores energy and releases it when the force is removed, returning to its original position.

Features:

  1. Single Direction Winding: The spring wire is wound in one direction only—either left-hand or right-hand.

  2. Customizable Legs: The length, angle, and shape of the spring legs can be designed to fit various applications.

  3. Torque Generation: Suitable for mechanisms that require rotational resistance or return force.

  4. Material Variety: Common materials include spring steel (SWC), music wire (SWP), and stainless steel (SUS304, SUS316, SUS631)
